Eurofashion – creations of the Song Contest

It was a big party in Rotterdam last week. Fans of the Eurovision Song Contest could indulge themselves in spectacular shows and dazzling fashion statements. The organization of the Eurovision Song Contest decided to wrap the presenters and Dutch artists in home-grown creations. The TextielMuseum is bringing 7 of these special pieces to Tilburg.

On display are the outfits of Edsilia Rombley by Tess van Zalinge and Elzinga Studio, the dress for Chantal Janzen by David Laport, the creation of fashion house Maison the Faux for host Nikkie de Jager and the dress for singer Davina Michelle van Martan.

The idea for this presentation was born when fashion designer Tess van Zalinge was commissioned to design an outfit for the Eurovision Song Contest. Van Zalinge was already planned as one of the designers in the group exhibition ‘Secrets of Making’, which can be seen from 26 June in the TextielMuseum. This exhibition shows how artists, designers and fashion designers create their ideas, from sketch to final product.
