<html><body>In the past, fabrics were not designed with sustainability in mind as we increasingly do now. Yet textiles from back then can be insightful for sustainable ambitions today. To develop new sustainable tableware for the label by TextielMuseum, the designers of Envisions drew inspiration from historical&nbsp;diaper damask from the TextielMuseum's collection.
The exhibition shows the tableware of the past that inspires today's designers, how a sustainable design comes about and the considerations involved. The central question is: what can we learn from the textiles of the past, and how can we set the table even better?&nbsp;</body></html>

About the exhibition

<html><body>Diaper damask is a simple form of damask and was often used as everyday tableware. It was less luxurious than the lavish satin damask, but was not inferior in quality. Textiles were precious, so people were careful with them. It was taken care of meticulously, repaired and reused for as long as possible. A good example of sustainability and therefore an inspiration for the development of better tableware by today's designers.</body></html>

Vroeger werd bij het ontwerpen van stoffen niet over duurzaamheid nagedacht zoals we dat nu steeds vaker doen. Toch kan textiel van toen op verschillende manieren leerzaam zijn voor duurzame ambities nu. Voor het ontwikkelen van nieuw duurzaam tafelgoed voor het label by TextielMuseum, lieten de ontwerpers van Envisions zich inspireren door historisch pellendamast uit de collectie van het TextielMuseum.
In de tentoonstelling zie je het tafelgoed van vroeger dat de ontwerpers van nu inspireert, hoe een duurzaam ontwerp tot stand komt en de afwegingen die daarbij gemaakt moeten worden. Centraal staat de vraag: wat kunnen we leren van het textiel van vroeger, en hoe kan ons tafelgoed nog beter?

Over de tentoonstelling

<html><body>Pellendamast is een eenvoudige vorm van damast en werd vaak gebruikt als alledaags tafelgoed. Het was minder luxe dan het weelderige satijndamast, maar deed er in kwaliteit niet voor onder. Textiel was kostbaar, dus mensen waren er zuinig op. Het werd zorgvuldig verzorgd, hersteld en zo lang mogelijk hergebruikt. Een goed voorbeeld van duurzaamheid en daarom een inspiratiebron voor het ontwikkelen van beter tafelgoed door de ontwerpers van nu.

Envisions is een multidisciplinair ontwerpbureau dat een nieuw perspectief op materialen biedt door visionaire ruimtes te cre&euml;ren en nieuwe toepassingen te ontwikkelen. Ze brengen&nbsp;verschillende ontwerpdisciplines samen en maakt de toekomst van materiaal tastbaar, waardoor producenten hun productie, processen en toepassingen heroverwegen. Deze aanpak maakte Envisions een uitstekende partner voor de ontwikkeling van een nieuw duurzaam product voor ons label by TextielMuseum.</body></html>

<html><body>Onder de naam by TextielMuseum cre&euml;ren we interieur- en huishoudtextiel ontworpen door topdesigners en ontwikkeld in het TextielLab van het museum. Onderdeel van onze collectie is het nieuwe duurzame tafellaken getiteld Re-Work*, dat is ontworpen door Envisions.
