Discover the works of eight recent graduates that all developed their work in the TextielLab
A diverse group
As a museum, we place great value on nurturing talent. As well as working with established names from the worlds of art and design, we offer emerging artists and designers the space to discover and further develop their talent. In the TextielLab, they experiment with materials, techniques and ideas, under the guidance of our experts. We also provide a platform for their work through a series of rotating exhibitions on the Panorama Deck.
‘Master Pieces’ brings together the final-year projects of eight students who graduated last academic year from international degree programmes in the fields of art, design and textiles. The works on display are as diverse as the students themselves: knitted or woven, technical or conceptual, conveying a subtle message or, conversely, making a bold statement. They beautifully illustrate the endless possibilities of textiles when imagination, an inquisitive mindset and craftsmanship come together.
The exhibition offers not only a glimpse of new talent, but also of the ideas and questions that preoccupy this generation of artists and designers. The works touch on current social themes, personal stories and technical challenges. Together, they provide an insight into their world and the future they envisage.
‘Master Pieces’ demonstrates how a new generation of creators is using textiles to explore, question and shape the world. A generation that explores the limits of the material and demonstrates the important role that textiles can play in the future of art and design.
