About Master Pieces
TextielMuseum I TextielLab is a strong advocate for talent development. Alongside established names in the art and design world, we create opportunities for emerging talents to grow in the field of textiles. We do this by offering them space and guidance to experiment and develop new work at TextielLab, and by offering a platform at TextielMuseum through regular talent exhibitions at our Panorama Deck.
Master Pieces brings together the work of eight students who graduated last academic year from various international art, design, and textile programs. Each work originated from an individual graduation track, yet has something significant in common: all were developed at TextielLab.
The works presented are as diverse as the students themselves: from interior objects to garments, and from tapestries to technical samples. Despite their different educational paths, parallels emerge in the student’s work. The projects are therefore shown in pairs, creating dialogues between the work of students whose themes or approaches intersect.
This presentation offers a snapshot of what resonates with this cohort of graduates. The works reflect on current issues, personal narratives, technical and societal questions. They provide insight into the world of upcoming artists and designers, and the future they aim to shape - a future in which textiles have a strong voice.
