Female voices of Tilburg
For four years, 60 women from Tilburg, from a variety of cultural backgrounds, worked on textile artworks brimming with stories about their origins, traditions, encounters and what they wish to pass on. During this final presentation, the fourth artwork – created under the guidance of Dakota Magdalena Mokhammad – will be unveiled. The artworks will be exhibited together for the first time.
Four artworks. Four artists. Four stories. One extraordinary whole. Each piece has its own form and narrative. Together, they demonstrate how textiles connect people, memories and cultures. You will not only see the artworks, but also the women behind them and the journey that led to them: the process of creating, sharing, listening and collaborating over the years. Participants will explain what ‘Bindweefsel’ has meant to them and take you on a journey through the stories behind the works. The artworks can be viewed free of charge for four weeks (!) on the Panorama Deck of the TextielMuseum. A festive opening will take place on 9 October.
