Workshop Sashiko

Recycle, experiment, emboridery and re-use of materials

Sashiko is a Japanese repairing technique that is developed by the Japanese working class in the 17th century. Main goal of this technique is to repair, but the stitches and special patterns also form a sort of protection of the fabric.

During the workshop, students will try this technique themselves. They learn different stitches, draw modern sashiko patterns and embroider the pattern on the fabric. Shape, technique and material are main themes in this workshop.
