In the Project Space, memory, material and making come together in the work of designer Simone Post and product developer Judith Peskens within TextielLab.

At the heart of the session is the question of what textiles can carry: not only physically, but also as vessels of stories, craftsmanship, labour and time. Drawing from personal memories, their work connects to wider themes such as heritage, the loss of craft knowledge and the search for circular design approaches. Together, they show how concept and execution are in constant dialogue. An accessible yet layered session for anyone interested in experiencing the power of textiles and the making process.

Few things are as human as storytelling. By sharing stories, we come to understand what others experience, value, and where we connect or differ. Curator Adelheid Smit guides you through the exhibition Red threads, where you’ll discover many personal stories that come together in textiles.

Along the way, you’ll see how textiles emerge from a continuous interplay between idea, material and technique. At one of the works, the makers themselves provide an exclusive insight into their collaboration*. Lilas Patard shares her research into the boundary between body, object and textile as a second skin, while Eerika Yli-Rahko explores the technical translation through 3D knitting and the influence of tension and form on design.

*SPIN is in Dutch; however, this presentation will be held in English, with translation provided where needed by curator Adelheid Smit.

The machine park tour shows how TextielLab is in constant development. Guided by our specialists, you’ll gain insight into how different machines work and how technical choices shape the final result.

Here, development never stands still: machines, materials and makers form one continuous process in which textiles are constantly redefined. An inspiring glimpse into how contemporary textile production truly comes to life.
