Museumgasten: Haus of fibre X Qult Tilburg
On Sunday 16 November, the first Museum Guests event will take place, themed 'Haus of fibre'. This first edition is being organised in collaboration with Qult Tilburg – a queer collective that supports all kinds of queer communities, creators and people in Tilburg. This edition of Museum Guests coincides with Transgender Awareness Week, and that is no coincidence. During Museum Guests, the hosts of Qult and various guests will reflect on the overlapping themes of Haus of fibre and Transgender Awareness Week. What makes this edition special is that we invite you to contribute!

What/who can you expect?
The format of Museum Guests is different from what you are used to! Various speakers have been invited to share their views on trans and queer existence in an open-mic setting. The first guest is photographer Prins de Vos (he/him), who will talk about his photographic work capturing people in transition and photographing alternative family forms. Prins' work touches on themes such as intimacy, identity and gender. In 2022, Prins published the photo book BOYS DO CRY, about Levi, an artist, poet and trans man. In 2025, Prins' work was awarded a World Press Photo prize in the Europe, Singles category, with a photo from their ongoing series On Hold.
Artist Nixie Van Laere joins the co-creation group that created the exhibition together with the museum. Nixie Van Laere (she/her) is an artist, writer and parent. Among other things, she creates work about her life as a trans woman, using textiles, performance and video. Her family life is also often central to her work. By combining different mediums, she interweaves the personal and intimate with broader questions about queer history and family relationships. Finally, Ada Maricia Patterson joins us. Ada Maricia Patterson (she/her) is an artist and writer working in Barbados, London and Rotterdam. In her work, she explores how stories influence the formation of identity, but also how they can limit or complicate this formation. Patterson works in a multidisciplinary way, moving between different mediums and expressions: from poetry, textiles and video to masquerade and performance.
After the open mic session with Prins, Nixie and Ada, there's room for you!

Open mic, call to all!
In addition to the curated open mic section, there is room for you in the Museum Guests programme! Would you like to share your story, work or experience during this special afternoon? You are most welcome. You can register via Qult: [email protected]. Share in a few sentences who you are and what you would like to share. During Museum Guests, each person has 3 minutes to contribute. Don't hesitate, sign up and contribute to this special afternoon.
Visit the exhibition
After the open mic sessions, you are invited to visit the Haus of fibre exhibition. The organisers of this edition are trying to connect queer and non-queer visitors. We provide conversation cards to help you start a conversation. Participation in this session is entirely optional. You are also welcome to visit the exhibition on your own.
Wild Ones x UNTAG
During Museum Guests Wild Ones have a stall. Here you can find a range of gender-affirming items that celebrate each and every gender expression.
