Discover Draadjager: The new family offer!

Starting December, we are offering families a new adventure: Draadjager. This permanent programme introduces you to the fictional Draadjager family, who live in the museum. When the last visitor goes home and the doors close, this special family comes home!  They experience all kinds of things together and sometimes encounter problems where they desperately need your help. You will discover the museum, various textile techniques and the Draadjager family in a playful way: a colourful and cheerful bunch!

What can you expect?

After registering with your unique team name and choosing one of the five Draadjager challenges, the Draadjager family will take you into their world in a video. Then follow the yellow route through the museum to the docking station that corresponds with your challenge. There, the main character will digitally take you by the hand and explain the assignment. After that, you and your group get to work. Everyone can participate!

What exactly are you going to do?

Station Gifting

At the Gifting station, Yamuna challenges you to design a coat together. Could you design a coat for someone else? Do you know which colour or material to choose? Using various sample fabrics, you will design a coat for someone else together! Happy with the design? Then save it and send it to yourself via email. You can take a closer look at it at home and show it to others!

Station Repair

Reza and Yamuna built a cool tent together using an old cloth from the attic. But while they were playing, the fabric accidentally tore! At the Repair Station, you can help Reza and Yamuna out of a tight spot. Dad will be home soon – will you help? Choose threads that you think go well together and learn how to weave to repair the hole. Teamwork makes it possible!

Station Memories

Daughter Marieke has a school party, but nothing special to wear – you know how it is! At Memory Station, you help Marieke make a special piece of jewellery to brighten up her outfit! Using different colours of thread, you work together to create a beautiful story cord. Does your memory feel red, or blue? Anything is possible. Work together to create a unique story cord of your own!

Station The Heir

In the DamastWeverij, you arrive at De Erfgenaam station. On television, father Pelle sees an appeal on the news: "A very valuable tablecloth is missing!" Pelle recognises the tablecloth from the attic and immediately gets in touch! The next day, three people suddenly appear at the door, all claiming that the tablecloth is theirs. Their heirloom. But who is telling the truth...? Help Pelle in his search for the real heir!

Station Celebrate

Daughter Marieke would like to celebrate every day, because everyone is happy on a holiday. That's why she makes flags for every new holiday so she can march in a parade. But a parade on your own isn't a real parade. At the Celebrate station, you can design your own flag for a new holiday you've invented! All the flags that are made will form Marieke's digital parade. The parade that makes you happy!

Draadjager was developed especially for children aged 8-12, but is designed so that the whole family can join in, young and old alike! The programme is a permanent feature of the museum and is offered free of charge. You don't need any knowledge of textiles or creative talent. Draadjager is an invitation to explore the wonderful world of textiles together.

Ready for adventure? The Draadjager family is waiting for your help!
